What Is A Car’s Rear Differential

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: February 8, 2010

The car’s rear differential is a small device. The rear differential distributes the equal torque to the wheels. The rear differential plays major role while turning the car. If torque is not distributed in equal amount, some wheels will receive more power than the other wheel.

  • Arrangement: The car gears are arranged by rear differential. The ring gears and side gears will get the power generated by the car’s engine.
  • Necessity: Rear differential is very important at the time of turning the car. While turning the car, the inside wheels are at turning arc, where as other wheels are at outside. The outside wheels need to run faster than the inside wheels. Therefore, at that time not all wheels are able to run at same speed. Car rear differential is important to distribute the equal amount of power to all wheels.

The different types of rear’s differentials are:

  • Open differential type: In open differential type, if one wheel slips then all the power transfers to slipping wheel and the other wheels remain stationary.
  • Limited slip differential type: It is a clutch type and locking type. It maintains the equal amount of speed between all the wheels.
  • Active differential type: In this type of differential, the torque distribution is based on angle and acceleration.

Pros And Cons Of External Recruitment

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: February 5, 2010

The External Recruitment picks up new individuals to the organization, which is a huge benefit for the organization as they provide new ideas. The External Recruitment allows the organization to define the proper and right requirements and the organization can select the candidate, who fulfills requirements and suits the organization best.

The external recruitment can provide quicker solutions in many employment cases. Especially, in the situation when the job business is full of potential or capable job candidates. The external recruitment and proper run of organization can increase the popularity of the organization on the job market, which helps to enhance the position for further growth.

On the other hand, the main limitation of external recruitment is, it is very expensive and involves a lot of activities and effectiveness from the HRM function to pick up and examine all the job candidates in the selection process. It is a longer process, costly process due to advertisements and interviews required and there will be difficulties in evaluating suitability or rightness of candidates.

How To Prevent Drug Abuse In Children

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: February 3, 2010

Risk and protective factors can influence children at various stages of their lives. Early childhood risks like aggressive behavior can be prevented with family, school, and community interventions, which concentrates mainly on helping children to cultivate proper and positive behaviors. If not approached properly, negative behaviors can generate more risks like academic failure and social difficulties, which makes children abused to drugs.

The more risks a child is subjected to, there are more chances for a child to abuse drugs. Some risk factors are powerful at particular stages in development, like peer pressure in teenage years. Some protective factors, like healthy parent-child bond, will have more impact on decreasing risks in the early years. An important goal of prevention is to maintain balance between risk factors and protective factors in such a way that protective factors are more than risk factors.

Some indications of risk can be observed in early stages like infancy or early childhood, like aggressive behavior, poor self-control, or irritating temperament. As the child grows up, communications with family, at school, and within the community can help in reducing the child’s risk for drug abuse.

Families can protect children from later drug abuse if there is a strong relationship between children and parents, parental concentration in the child’s life and clear limits and regular compulsion of discipline.

How To Prevent Prescription Drug Abuse

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: January 30, 2010

Prescription drugs are addictive in nature. Acquiring knowledge of prescription drug abuse is the initial step to prevent addiction.

  • Consume only the prescribed amount recommended by doctor. If the prescribed dosage is not showing any effect, then contact doctor but do not increase the dosage by your own.
  • Analyze the type of drug you are using and the time period for which you have used it. Narcotics, sedatives and stimulants are the drugs, which are mostly abused. Moreover, long-term usage of a medication will increase the possibility of dependency or addiction.
  • If you are using a prescribed drug, which is addictive, you should slowly reduce the dosage and get rid of it by making a proper plan with doctor.
  • Dispose the prescription drugs, which are not required, by giving them or throwing them away. Controlling temptation is the simple way to prevent drug abuse.
  • Be familiar about drug dependency warnings and take medical help if you feel that you are becoming dependent or addicted to medication.

The first sign of drug abuse is improved tolerance to current dosage. Take into consideration if someone exhibits concern over drug abuse symptoms, like mood swings, irritability or overuse.

How To Protect PC If It Is Attacked By Botnet?

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: December 31, 2009

Actually it is not easy to detect botnet attack in the PC. If there is botnet attack, then you can notice abnormal activity when the computer is on. You can also find that your computer is blocked or detached from the campus network.

If there is botnet infection in your computer, then Internet connection seems to be unusually slow when you are online as botnet uses your computer to send and receive data. If the PC is using Internet connection and when the network tab of task manager is clicked, if it shows more than a few percent usage it is evidence that someone is using your Internet connection without your knowledge.

Few tips to build secure systems and networks are

  • buy good hardware UTM firewall,
  • learn how to use and configure it to its limits,
  • learn more about TCP/IP.

Few tips to firewall rules

  • block all IRC traffic, as botnets generally use IRC communication channel to control it
  • restrict SMTP connections only from inside mail server to operator smart host. SMTP should not be connected directly.
  • Decline all MS executable attachments on mails.

So, be aware of these facts and protect your PC from Botnets.

Preventive Measures of Botnet Attacks

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: December 28, 2009

Few preventive measures to protect your PC from Botnet attacks are:

  • Passive OS fingerprinting can recognize botnet attacks. After the information obtained from passive fingerprinting about botnet attack network administrators will configure new firewall equipment to take action.
  • Several security companies like Afferent Security Labs, Symantec, Trend Micro, FireEye, Simplicita and Damballa have released offerings to control botnets. Some like Norton AntiBot, are aimed at consumers, while most of them are aimed to protect enterprises and/or Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

There are many technologies that can detect and prevent computer from being infected by a Botnet.

  • Anti-Malware Technology tools can detect malware worms and restricts user from downloading them.
  • IDSes (Intrusion Detection Systems) will notice the changes in ordinary traffic flow and recognizes the start time of DoS attack so that it can take remedial action.
  • IPSes (Intrusion Prevention Systems) takes immediate action like blocking specific IP Address whenever there is deviation in the usual traffic flow and reduces the impact of Denial of service attacks.
  • Honeypots are designed to distract botnets from critical network machines and provide malware experts a safe environment to examine botnet’s design and behavior.

The host-based techniques uses a method to try to identify bot behavior that has  ignored common anti-virus software. Network-based approaches generally use the techniques like shutting down C&C servers, nullrouting DNS entries, or completely shutting down IRC servers.

Why people are addicted to drugs?

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: December 21, 2009

Do you know why people get addicted to drugs? Answer is simple. They take drugs just for pleasure. People frequently begin to use drugs to avoid the things that trouble them most. They want to avoid pressure from friends, stress in the family, problems, and to have lousy feeling of being different from everyone else in the world. However, they do not care about negative impacts of drug intake, which are very harmful.

An addicted person feels like they need drugs and may feel sick if they do not have any. The difference between substance abuse and addiction is very small. Substance abuse means using an illegal substance or using a legal substance in the wrong method. Addiction means a person has no control over whether he or she uses a drug. A physically addicted person becomes dependent on a particular substance and starts building resistance to that substance, this makes person to have a larger dose than ever to get the same effects. When he stops drug addiction, he experiences withdrawal symptoms. A psychologically addicted person will just have desire to take drug all the time. If they wont get it, they may steal it and practice illegal means to get it.

Learn how to write a letter

Posted by: Jay k Johnson on: July 10, 2009

Writing a letter shows effort, respect and care for others.

Gather all the information you want to put in a letter. The arrangement of the information depends on the type of letter you are going to write. You must write them neatly and clearly.

First at the top of the letter (any letter), mention the date. It is important, as the person reading should understand when the letter was written. Below the date you can mention your address if you are writing to your friends or relatives. But for business letters its generally written at the end of the letter.

Start with a proper greeting. It should be written on the left side of the page. The word generally used is “dear”. If you do not know the recipient, mention as “to whom so ever it may concern”.

Write an opening paragraph. Be clear what you are mentioning in a brief. Make sure the reader understands it well.

Then construct the body of the letter. Break the complex matter into small paragraphs and keep the reader in mind while writing.

Include a closing. If it is your friend or relative, you can write “yours lovingly”, for others you can write “sincerely”, “looking forward to” and so on.

Address your envelope. Always mention the address of the recipient on the envelope.

Growing Concerns Of Paralysis

Posted by: Tom K Johnson on: April 22, 2009

Paralysis is the problem with around 5.6 million people in just US. Being alive and incapable to perform some action as yesterday, is a horrible thing to even think of.

Most of it is that you will have to rely on somebody else to do things. The situation will be worse in case of some people. They are almost equal to the brain-dead, but the major difference is that they can understand what is going around them; they can understand how they are no good than the bed they are lying in; and nobody wants to look themselves or their near-and-dears in such situation.

According to a study recently, the major cause for paralysis is stroke followed by spinal-cord injury. Both of them can be stopped with proper cautiousness and some early steps.

Stroke can be prevented by taking proper care about health with healthy food and regular workouts.

Regarding the spinal-cord injury, most of them have occurred due to accidents with motor vehicles. Drink and drive cases are the major part of motor vehicle accidents as we already know.
